Software as a Service - Changing the world as we know it

One reason I am so excited about LiquidPractice is that we are delivering a new and much improved software experience to our clients. Pretty much gone are the days when there was a 6-month or (heaven forbid) a one-year upgrade cycle, with the attendant upfront, lump-sum fees for licensing a new application (or at least a few new features).

With cloud delivery and a "Software as a Service" (SaaS) business model, the software world is quickly moving to a new modality that makes more sense for both parties to the transaction: customers/clients no longer get locked into software investments that may often be stranded (e.g., lackluster feature upgrades for high $$ cost, i.e., you're stuck), while software providers are now able to deliver improvements in a more timely manner and more economically through the cloud. Largely gone are the costs of installation, delivery, and endless testing for different platforms. To top it off, the economic incentives for both parties keep things moving in the right direction: customers aren't locked in, and providers need to earn their keep at all times -- a good thing in a competitive world.

The result is truly a winning situation for both clients and LiquidPractice. From my perspective, that makes business more fun and really a joy to pursue.
